Scene outside the Duke of Yorks Theatre, London. The theatre, designed by architect Walter Emden was opened on 10 September 1892 although it started life as the Trafalgar Square Theatre. It was changed to the Duke of Yorks Theatre in 1895 to honour the future King George V. Miss Marie Tempest (15 July 1864 15 October 1942) is billed as starring in the performance of All of a Sudden Peggy by Ernest Denny (20 July 18691943). The date of this photograph is unknown but the play was written in 1920. Date: 1920s
