This magnificent ruby, estimated to weigh around 170 carats, is believed to have been brought to Europe from India during the Crusades and was owned by the Spanish Infante Don Pedro, the Black Prince of Asturias, who brought it to England after his victory in the Battle of Neville's Cross in 1345.
