The Reredos at Whippingham Church on the Isle of Wight is a stunning example of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture and craftsmanship. This intricately carved stone sculpture, located at the east end of the church, depicts The Last Supper scene from the New Testament. The Reredos, meaning a screen or decorative panel behind an altar, was designed by the renowned English architect, G.F. Bodley, and executed by the talented sculptor, Thomas Earp. The work was completed in 1860 and is considered one of Bodley's finest achievements. The detailed relief carving showcases Jesus Christ and his twelve disciples, each depicted with individual expressions and gestures, as they share their last meal together before Jesus' crucifixion.
