EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photograph from the July 1959 Coventry-Air Pageant and National Races, the sleek and agile Klemm Kl.107C (D-ELOQ) graces the sky. Originally registered in Germany, this aircraft made its way to the United Kingdom and was re-registered as G-ASAW (C of R R7645/1) by Flair Aviation Sales Company Ltd. based in Biggin Hill, Kent. The Klemm Kl.107C, a versatile and popular light aircraft of its time, was first registered in Germany in 1953. Its distinctive design and impressive performance quickly gained attention from aviation enthusiasts and commercial operators alike. This particular aircraft, D-ELOQ, was a notable participant in various air shows and events during its time in Germany. In June 1962, D-ELOQ was re-registered in the UK and became a part of Flair Aviation Sales Company's impressive fleet. The company, known for its expertise in the aviation industry, showcased the aircraft at various events and demonstrations. Unfortunately, the Klemm Kl.107C's tenure in the UK came to an end on January 5, 1965, when it was written off (destroyed) during a tragic incident. The aircraft crashed into the English Channel off Littlehampton, Sussex, marking the end of an era for this iconic aircraft. This photograph captures a moment in time when the Klemm Kl.107C (D-ELOQ) was still in its prime, showcasing its grace and agility in the skies above Coventry during the 1959 Air Pageant and National Races. A true testament to the enduring allure of aviation history.
