EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph captures the historic Northrop T-38A-10-NO Talon 58-1194, also known as Buzz Number TF-194, during its early stages of flight testing at an Air Force base, believed to be Edwards Air Force Base, in 1959. The production aircraft is seen with the rear cockpit canopy blanked off for testing purposes. After its service with the United States Air Force, this T-38A was transferred to the United States Navy as a DT-38A with a non-standard BuAer Number 581194. The aircraft was later converted into a QT-38A for use as an aerial target. However, on 19 November 1980, the QT-38A was struck off charge due to damage received during a missile engagement.
