Leonardo da Vinci birthplace and museum

Leonardo da Vinci birthplace and museum. This is the farmhouse in Anchiano, a village near Vinci, Italy, where it is thought Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was born. Da Vinci was an Italian artist, architect and inventor. He lived here for five years, and then moved to Vinci, and then, at the age of fourteen, to Florence. Leonardo is most famous for his works of art, such as The Last Supper (1498) and the Mona Lisa (1504). Despite having little formal education, he filled his notebooks with his scientific theories, inventions and architectural designs. His inventions included grinding and polishing machinery, and flying machines. Most of his projects were never published nor constructed. After Leonardos death his notes lay unnoticed in a library until 1796. The farmhouse is now a museum

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the birthplace and museum of one of history's greatest minds, Leonardo da Vinci. Located in Anchiano, a charming village near Vinci, Italy, this farmhouse holds immense historical significance as it is believed to be the birthplace of da Vinci himself. Born in 1452, da Vinci was not only an exceptional artist but also an architect and inventor. During his early years spent here, da Vinci developed his artistic talents before moving to nearby Vinci and later Florence at the age of fourteen. Renowned for masterpieces like The Last Supper and Mona Lisa, da Vinci's genius extended far beyond art. Despite limited formal education, he filled countless notebooks with scientific theories, inventions, and architectural designs that were ahead of their time. The farmhouse has now been transformed into a museum where visitors can immerse themselves in the life and works of this extraordinary individual. From grinding machinery to flying machines envisioned by da Vinci centuries ago – many projects remained unrealized during his lifetime but continue to inspire awe today. Leonardo's notes lay forgotten until 1796 when they were discovered in a library after his passing. This image captures not just a physical place but also represents the rich legacy left behind by one man who forever changed our understanding of science, artistry, and human potential.
