Dame Mary Barbara Hamilton Cartland (1901-2000), married name Mrs Barbara McCorquodale, British novelist. Pictured in the wedding gown she designed herself for her marriage to Alistair McCorquodale in April 1927. The dress was entirely made white tulle, with frills of tulle forming the lower skirt and the lower part of the sleeves. The train was of white satin embossed with pale pink flowers and edged with ermine worn by her mother at her wedding. The veil was of white tulle. Date: 1927
