Dating back to circa 1905, this print offers a humorous take on the iconic dance that became synonymous with Parisian nightlife and the Moulin Rouge. The Can-Can, a lively and provocative dance, originated in the Montmartre district of Paris in the 1830s. It was initially performed by working-class women in cabarets and music halls as a form of entertainment for the local soldiers and laborers.
