EDITORS COMMENTS
This vintage print captures the historic Crow Butte near Ft. Robinson, Nebraska, showcasing a significant moment in Native American history. In an intense battle between the Indians and the Crows, the Indians strategically drove their enemies up onto this mountain and camped on its only approach. Their intention was to either kill or starve their enemy into submission. However, faced with limited options for escape, the resourceful Crows killed and skinned one of their ponies.
