Alien planet 51 Pegasi b and its sun
Alien planet 51 Pegasi b and its sun. Artwork of 51 Pegasi b crossing its parent star 51 Pegasi, as seen from the surface of a moon. 51 Pegasi b is a gas giant that was discovered in 1995. This discovery was the first to find an extrasolar (outside the Solar System) Sun-like star with a planet orbiting it. One orbit of 51 Pegasi takes the planet just 4 days, as it is only 7 million kilometres from the star, equivalent to 1/6th of Mercurys orbit around the Sun. Although 51 Pegasi is a Sun-like star, it is almost twice as old as the Sun, being about 7.5 billion years old. It lies some 50 light years from Earth, in the constellation Pegasus

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the mesmerizing Alien planet 51 Pegasi b and its sun in all its extraterrestrial glory. The artwork depicts the gas giant, 51 Pegasi b, gracefully crossing its parent star, 51 Pegasi, as viewed from the surface of a moon. This groundbreaking discovery made in 1995 marked a significant milestone in astronomical exploration - it was the first time an extrasolar Sun-like star with an orbiting planet had been found. With an incredibly short orbital period of just four days, this alien world is located a mere 7 million kilometers away from its scorching hot star. To put that into perspective, it's only about one-sixth of Mercury's distance from our own Sun. Despite sharing similarities to our Sun, such as being yellow dwarf stars, 51 Pegasi is almost twice as old at approximately 7.5 billion years. Situated some 50 light-years away from Earth within the constellation Pegasus, this distant planetary system continues to captivate astronomers and scientists alike. Its existence serves as a reminder of the vastness and diversity present within our universe. This stunning illustration offers us a glimpse into this otherworldly landscape where celestial bodies dance across space and time. It invites us to ponder on the mysteries that lie beyond our own solar system while celebrating humanity's relentless pursuit of knowledge in planetary science and astronomy.
