Parasitic wasp, SEM
Parasitic wasp (Eretmocerus eremicus), coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). This tiny wasp is a parasite of Bemisia sp. whitefly. One of its compound eyes (green) is at upper left. Its large antennae are at far left. E. eremicus is a parasitoid, a parasite that always kills its host. Females lay their eggs in the whiteflys body and when the larvae hatch they feed on it from the inside out. E. eremicus is used as a biological control agent for whitefly
