Edward Adrian Wilson Collection

Edward Adrian Wilson (1872-1912) was a British explorer, naturalist, and artist. He was born in Cheltenham, England and educated at the Royal Military College in Sandhurst. He joined Robert Falcon Scott's Terra Nova Expedition to Antarctica as chief of scientific staff in 1910. During the expedition he made many sketches of wildlife and landscapes which were later published as lithographs. He also wrote several books about his experiences during the expedition. Wilson died on 29th March 1912 while returning from the South Pole with Scott and four other companions. His artwork is still highly regarded today for its accuracy and beauty; it has been exhibited in several galleries around the world including The National Maritime Museum in London and The Natural History Museum in New York City.
