Created by French artist Charles Aubry in 1822, this particular print is a later copy featured in the German book "Die Karikatur und Satire in der Medizin" by Eugen Hollander. The scene depicts a patient who has suffered from apoplexy, commonly known as a stroke, surrounded by his concerned wife and physicians. The detailed illustration showcases the gravity of the situation during that era when strokes were often fatal. Labeled bottles scattered in the background hint at various treatments or remedies attempted to combat this devastating condition. The composition serves as both an artistic expression and a historical documentation of medical practices prevalent at the time.
