This image is from a copperplate engraving, and shows part of a roll of arms from Richard Blomes Britannia, an atlas published in 1673. It features the coats of arms of people who contributed towards the completion of the work a starting with King Charles II. Each page includes 35 coats of arms, presented here in pairs. These two coats of arms are from folio (page) 23 of the work. In old English, ans appeared as a longs (which looks like an f ), while ss appeared as fs. Com was an abbreviation for County. A number is assigned to each benefactor. Here are the accompanying texts (followed by modernised English where appropriate): 780. Ye Rt. Hon ble Edw Earle of SANDWICH vift. Originally engraved on a copperplate, this image is part of Richard Blome's Britannia, an esteemed atlas published in 1673. The roll of arms featured in this work represents individuals who contributed to its completion, starting with none other than King Charles II himself. On page 23 of this historical masterpiece, we find these two coats of arms presented side by side. It is important to note that during that era, "and" was written as "ans" resembling the letter "f" while "ss" appeared as "fs". Additionally, abbreviations were commonly used back then, such as "com" for county. The first coat of arms belongs to Edward Earl of Sandwich Viscount Montagu of Hinchingbrooke. He was not only the son but also a worthy successor to his late father who held prestigious titles like Knight of the Garter and Vice Admiral of His Majesty's Navy. The second coat features Richard Boyle Earl of Burlington & Cork Lord High Treasurer of Ireland along with Roger Boyle Earl Orrery - both esteemed members among His Majesty's Privy Council.
