The Angel of Mons, also known as the "Mons Vision," is a reported apparition of an angel that appeared to the men of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) on August 15, 1914, during the Battle of Mons in Belgium. The BEF, outnumbered and outflanked by the German forces, were preparing for a desperate retreat.
