The mid 1970s saw a number of innovative appliance designs come into play as the London Fire Brigade adapted to an ever changing and more Health and Safety conscious working environment. This single decker bus was redesigned and converted into a major incident control unit by the London Fire Brigade workshops. Its enhanced communications and conference facilities provided for improved command and control capability at large fires and other major incidents. Located at the Brigade headquarters, Lambeth, it was staffed by operational officers from the LFB operations room who both monitored and attended major incidents

In the mid-1970s, the London Fire Brigade underwent significant changes to adapt to a more Health and Safety conscious working environment. One innovative appliance design that emerged from these changes was this redesigned and converted single-decker bus, which served as a Major Incident Control Unit (CU) at the Brigade Headquarters in Lambeth.
