A menu card designed by Mr Leighton Ward for a menu for a send-off supper to the Cape Squadron of the Royal Horse Guards given at Hyde Park Barracks on 27 November 1899 before their departure for South Africa to fight in the Second Boer War. Delicacies on offer were South-African themed from Mafeking Mutton to Pretoria pheasants.

As the soldiers prepared to depart for South Africa to participate in the Second Boer War, their comrades and loved ones gathered to bid them farewell with a grand feast.
