This stunning watercolor painting depicts the North Island Brown Kiwi (Apteryx mantelli), a unique and iconic bird species endemic to New Zealand. The North Island Brown Kiwi is a flightless bird belonging to the Apterygidae family, order Apterygiformes, and class Aves. It is one of two kiwi species found in New Zealand, the other being the South Island Brown Kiwi (Apteryx australis). The North Island Brown Kiwi is native to the North Island and some parts of the South Island.
