Two De Havilland Mosquito bomber planes from the No. 140 Wing RAF of the Second Tactical

Two De Havilland Mosquito bomber planes from the No.140 Wing RAF of the Second Tactical Air Force attack the Gestapo headquarters housed in the University of Aarhus in Denmark during the Second World War.
The aircraft went in to the attack at zero feet, one pilot going so low that he hit part of the University and returned with an a buckled engine needle.
The bombing was accurate and the target was destroyed.
The Royal Air Force would in the aftermath of World War II point to the Aarhus raid as the most successful one of its kind during the war.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a historic moment during the Second World War, showcasing two De Havilland Mosquito bomber planes from the No. 140 Wing RAF of the Second Tactical Air Force in action. These fearless aircraft are seen attacking the notorious Gestapo headquarters housed within Denmark's University of Aarhus. In an audacious display of bravery, these bombers flew at an astonishingly low altitude, with one pilot even grazing part of the university building and returning with a buckled engine needle as evidence of their daring feat. The precision bombing executed by these skilled pilots resulted in the complete destruction of their target. The Royal Air Force would later hail this raid on Aarhus as one of the most successful operations carried out during World War II. It stands as a testament to not only the exceptional capabilities and effectiveness of these De Havilland Mosquito bombers but also to the unwavering determination and courage displayed by all those involved. Transporting us back to October 31st, 1944, this remarkable image serves as a reminder of both the destructive power unleashed during wartime and the heroic efforts made by Allied forces to bring down oppressive regimes.
