This beautiful engraving is a reproduction of an illustration by Jean-Gabriel Pretre, created for Rene Primevere's "Lessons Natural History of the Colibri Genus of Hummingbirds," published by Arthus Betrand in Paris in 1830. The illustration was later engraved by Coutant, adding an additional layer of intricacy and detail to the final piece.
