Physician. Historical satirical artwork of a physician. French text labels are on remedies emerging from the physicians mouth, and treatments on the table at lower left. The names of eminent physicians on the clothing and books include: Hippocrates, Galen, Avicenna, Rhazes, Averroes and Laurent Joubert. This is one of a set of artworks by the French artist Nicolas de l Armessin II, titled Costumes Grotesques, dating from around 1695. This copy is from the German book Die Karikatur und Satire in der Medizin (Caricature and Satire in Medicine, 1921) by the German art historian and physician Eugen Hollander (1867-1932)

Framed and mounted 17x12 print. Professionally handmade full timber moulded frames are finished off with framers tape and come with a hanging solution on the back. Outer dimensions are 21.5x17.5 inches (546x444mm). Quality timber frame frame moulding (20mm wide and 30mm deep) with frame colours in your choice of black, white, or raw oak and a choice of black or white card mounts. Frames have a perspex front providing a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish which is easily cleaned with a damp cloth.
