July - the Chateau at Poitiers, 15th century, (1939). Juillet - Le Chateau De Poitiers. Farm workers harvesting wheat with scythes and shearing sheep. In the background the river Boivre empties into the Clain. A wooden bridge leads to the triangular Chateau de Poitiers, at Poitiers in western France, which was built for Jean de Berry. A page from the " Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry", a book of hours produced for Jean, Duc de Berry and commissioned from the Limbourg brothers. Made between c1412 and 1489, and regarded as one of the finest examples of European manuscript illumination, it is held at the Musee Conde, Chantilly, France. Published in " Verve - No. 7, Vol. II".
