Coat of arms 17th century Venables and Beheathland

This image is from a copperplate engraving, and shows part of a roll of arms from Richard Blomes Britannia, an atlas published in 1673. It features the coats of arms of people who contributed towards the completion of the work a starting with King Charles II. Each page includes 35 coats of arms, presented here in pairs. These two coats of arms are from folio (page) 9 of the work. In old English, ans appeared as a longs (which looks like an f ), while ss appeared as fs. Com was an abbreviation for County. A number is assigned to each benefactor. Here are the accompanying texts (followed by modernised English where appropriate): 267. Richard VENABLES of Agden in Chefhire Efq (Agden, Cheshire). 272. Mr. Hen: BEHEATHLAND of Cornwall (Henry Beheathland)

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a remarkable piece of history - the Coat of Arms from the 17th century belonging to the Venables and Beheathland families. Derived from a copperplate engraving, this image is extracted from Richard Blomes Britannia, an esteemed atlas published in 1673. The roll of arms displayed here represents individuals who generously contributed to the completion of this monumental work, commencing with none other than King Charles II himself. Each page within this opulent atlas features pairs of coats of arms, totaling 35 per page. This particular snapshot captures two exquisite coats of arms found on folio (page) 9. It is important to note that during that era, "ans" was depicted as a longs resembling an "f" while "ss" appeared as "fs". Furthermore, abbreviations such as "com" were used for County. The accompanying texts provide further insight into these distinguished benefactors: number 267 introduces us to Richard Venables hailing from Agden in Cheshire; meanwhile, number 272 acquaints us with Mr. Henry Beheathland representing Cornwall. This antique engraved image not only serves as a visual delight but also offers a glimpse into British culture and traditional practices prevalent during the time period it originated. With its ornate design and rich red hues adorning delicate paper, this print exudes elegance and sophistication. A true testament to familial pride and heritage, these coat of arms serve as powerful symbols representing lineage and status within society. As we admire this heraldic masterpiece captured through copperplate engraving techniques on display in all its glory, we are transported back centuries ago when such emblems held great significance in defining one's identity and place in history.
