Genetic code
Genetic code, conceptual computer artwork. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), found in cell nuclei, is the molecule that carries the genetic code. This code is the sequence of the nucleotide bases found in a DNA molecule. The structure of the molecule is shown at upper left, and the nucleotide base pairs are the horizontal struts, also shown as the paired letters at right. There are four types of nucleotide base, but only two base pairings are usually possible: adenine (A) to thymine (T), and cytosine (C) to guanine (G). The base sequence can be obtained experimentally on a DNA autoradiogram (seen across bottom). The genetic code controls human growth and development (head at centre)
