Created in 1831 by French physician and anatomist Jean-Baptiste Marc Bourgery, this detailed illustration showcases the layers of muscles in the thigh as they relate to the femur (thigh bone) and pelvis bones. The artist behind this masterpiece is Nicolas-Henri Jacob, whose skillful hand brings life to each muscle fiber and joint depicted.
