Fingertip laceration injuries, X-rays
Fingertip laceration injuries, coloured X-rays. Both X-rays show the same hand, which suffered severe lacerations (blunt trauma cuts) to the tips of the middle fingers (pink). In the X-ray at left, the tip of the ring finger looks intact, but the X-ray at right shows that it has been almost amputated, and is only held on by threads of skin and tissue. The distal phalanx bone of this finger has separated from the rest of the finger. The distal phalanx of the middle finger has been broken in two places, and the second phalanx of the ring finger is also broken
