The first light pictures were taken on May 26, 2010 of planet Jupiter and M82 galaxy. During the 8-hour flight the crew of 18 scientists, enigineers and technicans thoroughly tested the US/NASA-German/DLR Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared-Astronomy. SOFIA visited its telescope home DLR on September 17th, 2011 for the first time with a landing at Cologne-Porz Airport
