Children at South Crosland CE Junior School have every reason to be very proud of

Children at South Crosland CE Junior School have every reason to be very proud of themselves. They organised a sponsored three-legged walk to raise money for a special hearing device for 11-year-old Rachel Lockwood... but did so well they finished with more than double what they needed! So they decided to give the rest to the Examiner for the £ 500, 000 bodyscanner appeal. Rachel is pictured presenting a cheque for £ 897 to Examiner promotions executive, Paul Clark, watched by friends. 8th April 1987

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this heartwarming print from Memory Lane Prints, we see the incredible generosity and compassion of the children at South Crosland CE Junior School. These young heroes organized a sponsored three-legged walk to raise funds for a special hearing device for their fellow classmate, 11-year-old Rachel Lockwood. However, their efforts went above and beyond all expectations as they managed to collect more than double the amount needed! Filled with empathy and selflessness, these remarkable children decided to donate the surplus funds to support the Examiner's £500,000 bodyscanner appeal. Captured in this snapshot is Rachel herself presenting a cheque worth an impressive £897 to Paul Clark, Examiner promotions executive. Surrounded by her supportive friends who witnessed this touching moment unfold on April 8th, 1987 in Huddersfield West Yorkshire. This image encapsulates not only the innocence of childhood but also showcases how education can instill values such as empathy and community spirit within our future generations. It serves as a reminder that even at a young age, children have immense power to make a positive impact on others' lives through acts of kindness and charity. The photograph symbolizes hope for better healthcare facilities while highlighting the importance of unity and collective effort in achieving common goals. The actions of these inspiring youngsters remind us that no act of kindness is ever too small or insignificant when it comes to making a difference in someone's life.
