This outbreak of an H1N1 strain of the virus occurred among soldiers at the Fort Dix military base. Swine flu is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza viruses. Symptoms are similar to those of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. The outbreak was contained to the base, where it lead to one death
