Ciliate protozoan, SEM
Ciliate protozoan. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a ciliate protozoan. This tiny single-celled organism is found in water. The membranelles, rows of fused cilia (short microscopic hairs), are also used for locomotion. Magnification: x2250 when printed at 10 centimetres wide
